Staying in Osaka with 8 or more people: how to choose a whole home
Past eight people, a hotel stay usually means three or four separate rooms and nowhere to gather. Osaka has plenty of whole homes you can rent outright, and the bigger your group, the better they work. But two homes that both say “sleeps 8” can be very different inside. We run homes in Osaka — here's what to look at, in order.
The short answer
- This site alone has 80 whole homes in Osaka where 8 or more people can stay together (27 sleep 10 or more; the largest sleeps 18).
- Before the headline capacity, check the number of bedrooms, the mix of beds and futons, and the number of toilets. A “sleeps 8” home with two bedrooms is a very different stay from one with four.
- 70 of them have two or more toilets — it matters when ten people are getting ready in the morning.
- Driving? Pick from the 37 with private parking (check spaces and size limits on each home).
- If you're mostly sightseeing in Osaka, stay somewhere with a short, direct train to Namba. From our 8+ homes it's about 1–30 minutes to Namba by train.

💡 Capacity is the maximum the home allows. An all-adult group will be more comfortable in a home rated for one or two more people than you are.
Six things to check before you book
- Bedrooms and beds: the mix of beds, futons (Japanese floor bedding) and sofa beds differs by home. Decide who sleeps where before booking.
- Toilets and bathrooms: 70 of 80 have two or more toilets. Most have one bathroom, so agree on an evening bath order.
- Stairs: 4 of 80 have an elevator. Many houses are three or four storeys with stairs inside — with grandparents, check for a bedroom on the first or second floor.
- Tatami rooms: 29 have a Japanese tatami room — futons on the floor are popular with groups that have lots of kids.
- Parking: 37 have private parking. Some limit car size (e.g. up to 7 seats).
- Neighbourhood etiquette: most whole homes are in residential streets. Keep voices down outside and on balconies at night, and sort rubbish as labelled. House rules are on each home's page.
Which part of Osaka?
Stations with the most 8+ homes on this site: Kishinosato-Tamade (12), Teradacho (6), Tengachaya (5), Sumiyoshi-Taisha (5), Kishinosato (5).
Big houses are easier to find a few stops out in residential areas than right next to Namba and Shinsaibashi. Tengachaya, Kishinosato-Tamade, Nishikujo and Tsuruhashi all have quick, direct trains to Namba or Umeda.
If you have a USJ day, Nishikujo is handy; if you fly in and out of Kansai Airport, Tengachaya — where the Nankai airport trains stop — is convenient.
