It is the head shrine of over 2,300 Sumiyoshi shrines across Japan, with nearly 1,800 years of history. Cross the vermilion Sorihashi (Taikobashi) bridge — the gentle arch underfoot, pine trees on both sides so quiet you can hear the wind. It draws one of the largest crowds in Japan for New Year's visits, and in summer the Sumiyoshi Festival fills the streets with a grand mikoshi procession. The retro Hankai Tram clangs past the shrine gate, keeping the Showa atmosphere alive. On your way back, Kushitora is about 1 min on foot, with yakitori smoke drifting out in the evening. Cafe Karin is about 3 min away for morning toast and coffee, and Sandy supermarket about 4 min — pick up seasonal fruit and enjoy it slowly in your room. No tourist rush here, just the easy pace of a shitamachi neighborhood. 🛏Rooms 2LDK, 64㎡. Bedroom 1: one double bed; Bedroom 2: one double bed. You can walk to Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine, Kohnohama Shopping Street, and convenience stores. It's also close to both the Nankai Electric Railway and the Hankai Tramway.
