About this home

Welcome to "Shakuyaku," a private machiya in Gojo, Kyoto. ★Location About 4 min walk from Kiyomizu-Gojo Sta, about 10 min from Shichijo Sta. Set in a quiet residential street in Shimogyo Ward, with a convenience store and supermarket just 2 min away. Explore Kyoto by day, then return to a calm neighborhood at night. ⚡Quick facts ・Kiyomizu-Gojo Sta: about 4 min walk ・Up to 9 guests / 4LDK private house (3 floors) ・100㎡ ・Gion: about 5 min by train (direct) ・Free high-speed WiFi 🚆Getting around From Kiyomizu-Higashiyama Sta by train: ・Gion & Yasaka Shrine: about 5 min (direct) ・Fushimi Inari Taisha: about 10 min (direct) ・Kyoto Sta: about 15 min ・Kiyomizu-dera: about 20 min (direct) ・Kinkaku-ji: about 45 min ・Arashiyama: about 50 min ・Umeda / Osaka Sta: about 50 min ・Nara: about 50 min ・Namba: about 55 min ・Kansai Airport: about 90 min ・USJ: about 75 min 🌸Neighborhood & culture Two minutes on foot is Super Fresco Gojo Ohashi, where locals shop in the evening and seasonal Kyoto vegetables sit by the register. Walk toward Gojo Ohashi and the Kamo River opens up — cherry blossoms along the banks in spring, people cooling off at dusk in summer, and the Higashiyama hills turning red and gold across the water in autumn. On a morning walk you might spot a heron standing in the shallows. Six minutes away is Kyoto Kocha Club, good for a slow breakfast tea. Eight minutes brings you to Tamaya, an old kissaten where locals read the newspaper. Gion is only 5 minutes by train, but back in Gojo the streets go quiet — just bicycle bells and the sound of a convenience store door sliding open. No tourist crowds, yet all of Higashiyama is within easy reach. 🛏Rooms 1F: tea room, living, dining, kitchen, bath (shower + tub), laundry, washbasin, toilet 2F: Japanese room 1 (3 single futons / closet), Japanese room 2, Western room (2 single beds / sofa), bath (shower), toilet 3F: Western room (2 single beds / sofa), Japanese room (3 single futons / closet), toilet, balcony 🛋Amenities Appliances: internet TV, washer-dryer, bathroom dryer, drying rack, iron, fridge, microwave, electric kettle, IH stove Kitchen: pots, dishes, dish soap (no seasonings provided) Bath: shampoo, conditioner, body soap, hairdryer, bath/face towels Hotel-grade disposables: toothbrush & toothpaste, hand soap, tissues, toilet paper, slippers, hangers, first-aid kit (per guest) ⚠️Notes No elevator. Excellent accommodation. The only small regret is that there's no toilet on the third floor, but that's not a drawback. It's really excellent.

Tabitha was a wonderful and attentive host! The home was well socked with helpful items that made living there easy, like umbrellas, dying racks, and an iron. It felt like a home that someone had lived in. The area was in a quieter part of Shinjuku but close to public transportation.

The room is very comfortable for sleeping, soundproofing is good, facilities are complete. The host's responses are concise and clear, communication is smooth. Near Shichijo and Gojo, not far from subway and bus stops, and not on the main road, avoiding street noise. Very satisfied.

Very beautiful detached townhouse, exquisitely decorated. It's very close to Gojo subway station, just a 3-minute walk. You can walk directly to the Kamogawa River to enjoy the beautiful scenery. It's also a 10-minute walk to Sanjo for dining and shopping, very convenient. Highly recommended, a great stay experience. It can accommodate 7-8 people without any problem. Will come again next time!
