Namba Grand Kagetsu
なんばグランド花月
Namba Grand Kagetsu (NGK) is the flagship theatre of Yoshimoto Kogyo, the company behind much of Japanese TV comedy. It seats around 850 people, and Osaka comes here to laugh.
A regular show is a fast mix of manzai (two-person stand-up with a straight man and a fool), solo acts, and then Yoshimoto Shinkigeki, a slapstick comedy play with pratfalls and running gags the audience knows by heart. The language is Japanese, but the physical comedy and the crowd's roar carry a lot.
What to see and do
The Osaka comic form: rapid banter between the boke (fool) and tsukkomi (straight man).
A slapstick comedy play that closes each main show, with famous group falls.
Comedian goods and snacks in the building, right in the Namba-Sennichimae area.
